This class is tailored to each student and helps build confidence in English skills. Class can range from a variety of questions about the student's daily life, interests, and dreams to looking at the student's English homework and assisting with any difficulties.
Phonics Focus
Let's make reading fun! One of the most challenging aspects of English is the spelling, which is often irregular and full of inconsistencies. In this class, we will make sure to master the keys to successful reading.
Reading Class
Intended for intermediate and advanced students. For intermediate students, we will read fun short stories from all over the world. For advanced students, we will do close readings followed by critical discussion, including literary styles and historical context.
Writing Class
Intended for intermediate and advanced students. Many times, students who have strong speaking or reading skills struggle with writing grammatically-correct and dynamic sentences and essays. In this class, we will practice how to express oneself well in written form.

ABOUT ME
Andrea Camille Hull
Hello! I look forward to getting to know your child and helping them on their English journey.
I received a Master's degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, a Bachelor of Arts fron Bryn Mawr College, and I was a Children's Librarian at a busy suburban public library before becoming a mother. I have tutored and taught English on-and-off for many years, both in the United States and in other countries. For the past two years, my family has been living in Japan in a small town north of Kyoto.
Growing up, we spoke two languages in the home - English and Spanish - and as an adult, I studies a few more languages, including Russian and Italian. I believe strongly in the importance of being multilingual! I know what it is like to learn a new language and also how to encourage language learning.
Learning should always be engaging and fun in order to keep a student's attention and ensure the maximum amount of learning. It is very important that my students feel comfortable practicing their grammar and vocabulary, and that they are not afraid to ask questions or make mistakes. I truly love teaching and am constantly inspired by the vivacity and creativity of my students!
